East Providence Education Foundation to hold Rubber Duck Race fundraiser
 The East Providence Education Foundation - a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the educational experience in the East Providence public schools - will hold its first Rubber Duck Race on May 31, 2008 12:00 to 2:00 PM rain or shine at Hunt's Mills in East Providence. Summer Workshops for Teachers
The U.S. Department of Education’s Teacher-to-Teacher Initiative has opened registration for its free summer workshops. The workshops will be held across the country starting June 18 and will target specific grade levels and content areas. School Hours will be as follows:

Facts about Opening of Schools: 

  1. All Elementary Schools and Middle Schools in the City of East Providence will be open for the 2007-2008 school year on Wednesday, September 5, 2007.  The first day of school will be a regular school day.

    Senior High School:  Only Freshman (Grade 9) will report on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at 7:25 AM.  All students will report on Thursday, September 6, 2007 at 7:25 AM.

  2. All students entering elementary and secondary schools in East Providence must register at the Central Registration Center located at the School Department Administration Building, 80 Burnside Avenue, East Providence.  Children entering kindergarten for the first time must be 5 years of age by September 1, 2007 and children entering 1st grade must be 6 years of age by September 1st.

  3. Opening day for ALL KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS will also be Wednesday, September 5, 2007.  Morning Kindergarten hours are 8:25 AM to 11:00 AM and afternoon Kindergarten hours are 11:55 AM to 2:30 PM.  Full day kindergarten hours are 8:25AM to 2:30PM.

The East Providence School Department is considering a 5-year plan for infrastructure and academic development. A draft of projects and priorities for our schools is available on this web site for public review. This proposal is subject to change.
