The East Providence High School community believes that excellence in education is the pathway to the future. Our goal is to instill a passion for learning and a sense of responsibility in all students. Teachers working with families ensure that every student’s transition to society is personal and meaningful. Students, administrators, faculty, and staff are part of a culture promoting a safe environment to explore new ideas, meet new challenges, respect diversity and contribute to the community.

Participation Policy

1. Daily attendance will be taken in the first period of the day. (Period 1 - Odd, Period 2 - Even). The classroom teacher is responsible for dealing with the students who are tardy. Consequences for tardiness might include after school time, calls to home, parental conferences and in the case of excessive tardiness, the involvement of the appropriate assistant principal.

2. Participation in class can be defined as the effort on the part of the student to be an active learner. This would include arriving on time, possessing the correct materials, taking notes, participating in group activities, or anything that the teacher deems significant to the particular class.

In order to enhance the educational process, 20% of the student's quarter grade will be based on participation.

3. When the student is absent, he or she MUST bring in a note signed by a parent with a current phone number or a note from a physician in order to receive credit for any work that was missed during the absence. The note will be carried by the student, signed by all teachers, and returned to the 7th period teacher to be held on file.
