Congratulations to Kya Abatiello, winner of the 2015 ARTS Scholarship Award!

Providence Performing Arts Center's ARTS Scholarships program provides an opportunity for talented Rhode Island youth to attend local summer arts education programs to broaden their artistic experiences in a chosen area of study.  The program began in 1996 when a portion of the proceeds from the First Annual Greater Providence Gospel Fest was designated for arts scholarships for 10 Providence Students.  Since then, 468 scholarships have been awarded. For the second consecutive year, one of our Martin Middle School students has been chosen to receive an ARTS Scholarship.  Way to go, Kya!

On March 11th, 6th grade students took part in a morning of healthy choices.  It was an event sponsored by The Picture of Children’s Health, wherein Chefs from JWU were here to share their healthy smoothies, veggie pizza crust and other healthy food choices. Mr. Deep Positivity, a local rapper, shared his healthy message through his music.  The objective of the day was to help educate students on the importance of healthy eating, motivating them to celebrate their health, and to develop a new culture that supports wellness.  A great time was had by all!
