“The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly Tour”

I am pleased to extend a personal invitation for you to join us on a guided tour of your East Providence schools! We have arranged for four of your brand new buses to be waiting for you at the East Providence High School on Tuesday, September 7th, 2010. The buses are scheduled to depart from the high school parking lot adjacent to the cafeteria at 9:45 AM. We will spend two hours touring 2 elementary schools, a middle school and then finish-up with a tour of our high school.

We are dubbing this “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly Tour” since its purpose is twofold. First, we are pleased to highlight our recent improvements in cleanliness, repairs, equipment, technology and various other upgrades to your schools. This is “The Good,” and we are very proud to show off these improvements. On the other hand, we would be remiss if we did not also show you “the Bad and the Ugly.” We seize this opportunity to show you some of the worst problems in your schools so as to illustrate the many additional repairs and improvements we have planned that will greatly enhance learning in your schools. These essential repairs and upgrades will be made with funding from a bond referendum we are asking you to approve on the November ballot. There will be much more information given out about the referendum and opportunities for your input at various public meetings in the next two months.

Please make every effort to be part of this tour. A picture is worth a thousand words and this tour is an opportunity to see our great improvements while providing an appreciation for what still needs to be done. We are working hard to improve our schools.
This is an initial tour and there will be a second opportunity in the next several weeks to go on another tour.
